Repair Manuals recomendations? (Dummy level)

Featured Replies

Looking for ( straight forward repair manual ) I believe that there used to be like a "dummies guide" for my old 82 subaru

Was looking for the same or equiv. for my 87 DL 4WD

factory service manuals (FSM's) (found on ebay, or in the marketplace here) are the best (lotsa pics and diagrams) - though haynes manuals are pretty good too - Im not a fan of chilton's, as they are vague

Chilton's are for those who like to practice...do the same job again and again, and again...

  (two thumbs DOWN)

They're not only vague, they also ensure that the S.T.M. doesn't realize that they're full of bull, and follows their instructions word for word. The result is doing the job over again...

better to worse: FSM, Haynes, Chiltons

and there's a How to make your Subaru last or something...i forget exactly what it's called but i've never seen one, though i've seen a few pages.

in reality the FSM is the way to go. keep your eye out here (post a wanted add) and on ebay, get them cheap. well worth it.

your thinking of "how to keep your subaru alive" it's out of print but there is a pdf file around here somewhere
