Ok, so I sold the Vortex a week or two back...

And today I picked up a 1987 Omega RX thingee.

I will get pictures up asap tomorrow, but in the meantime...

Did the RX come in different trim levels?

Cause... I've got the front air dam thing, The little tri-angle plastic mud deflector or something things by the rear wheels, no rear skirt thing, cloth seats, no power steering, crank windows, air con, alloy wheels...

Is it just me or is this combo a little mixed up?

 

But yeah, it goes alright... Maybe lacking a little on power compared to the Vortex, power is a bit off feeling over about 4700rpm or so, goes all stuttery nearly? 262,000km, not much rust.. as far as I know...:-\

 

Anyway, any comments and stuff would be cool, where do you guys suggest I start on the tune up etc? TIA

it sounds to me kinda like a weak coil...going all stuttery like that could be the coil not providing a good spark at higher loadings...just my 2 cents worth

Or possibly fuel filter.

My 89.5 RX did not have the side or rear skirts. You didnt mention anything about the rear spoiler? Odd that it would have AC and not PS. Like to see some pics.

Could of been upgraded, or downgraded? Like power steering replaced with non-power. Or maybe someone put in the Air-con? Need pics

But yeah I replaced the fuel filter on the way home, because it tried to strand me after we filled it up. I think we must have stirred up some crud in the tank. The old filter was 160,000km and 13 years old...

I think it must be a 87.5 cause its got the hotwire maf thing, is that right?

Difflock works, it just needed a fuse!

Also, is it ok to use the dual range like a 6th gear kinda thing? Or is it only to be switched between at low speed or something?

And its not completely loosing power at high rpm, just sorta feels a bit like its varing and having trouble a bit.. Does that make sence....

Check the vin. Here RX's have G56 in the vin like JF2AG56XXXXXXXXXX and the GLs that are pretty much an RX without a few things is G55. What's your vin say?

I think you might be right there, its not a 'Genuine' RX, I think over here those were called RXII's. This one is an 'Omega RX'.

Oh well, it still rocks!

looks like it could be in relation with our Loyale RS's. They came very simliar to what you have. Basically it could be upgraded to an RX wannabe, but not a TRUE RX. Doesn't look bad though;)
