if there is ... i know the legacies stop at 120mph (wusses) or there abouts. i would imagine its 130 for a turbo.

No, there's no governor. I saw a TLeg movie get up to 135 once with more pull to go.

Mine got up to 128mph with a 4EAT 2.2l non turbo. pretty good, well atleast i feel.

91 legacey turbo specs list top speed at 129 mph. Don't know if that's up hill or not.

Good question, i wonder if there are any like performance ECU chips.

not any real chips. Trust me we have been looking :) There is a very very very expensive ECU available that is programable.

There is no speed limiter on the pre-94 models. The only limit is the gearbox and engine. I have a movie of a 91 (I think) doing 130+.

Well i got a good friend who is a frabricator.

He is building a GT 40 from the ground up.

And hes got a unimog that hes bought a full ECU for and he hooks up to his laptop and makes instant changes to power ,etc.

Its good to here the pre-94 is not speed limited as thats the car im looking to buy.

They should do that and then some. I had mine up to 130 on level ground on one of the tollroads around houston

i found this for 90-96 legacys and something like $308 bucks..

they say it'll give close to 25% increase in hp and a increase in torque.

now i just need $300 bucks :brow:

I'd question how this things works, and what it is actually modifying. After trying a torquechip, I'm just not sold on "plug-in" chip type engine management.

and why does it say when you pick a model, turbo 2.5L ?

Thanks for the uplift....I thought the 129 mph was a bit anemic for this car. I just got my 91 turbo sedan back from the dealer with new clutch and can now enjoy a few tests of my own. 7000" altitude isn't going to help much though.

Mike

Not sure what you mean..

i used the pull down menu to pick the make model and car. The only options were a 2.2L turbo and a 2.5L turbo. i get the feeling this is generic box that fits anything. i also get the feeling it may over ride the ECU instead of reprograming it. Would be interesting to see the install directions

what was the pop noise as you aproached 140

Yes good question, could it be the engine running with no oil and seizing, hehe. Or the ecu has a governor, and cut off the engine, eh? Isnt that how the governor's work, i gota make the same video, with my 93 legacy wagon. But it takes long with a non turbo car. Maybe after i drop in my STi engine ill do the video, should only take a few second, lol.

Yeah I'm not sure if it even would override the ECU. Typically boxes like that modify the signal going to the ECU to get it to increase fuel or timing, etc.

you probably wont gain signifacant power unless you change the injectors and edit plug gaps.

ps. Hit 115 mph in my 91 Loyale, 5mt.
