93 legacy wagon SCORE!!!! **finally....pics!!**

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just scored me a fine new winter (or maybe year-round) ride. '93 legacy wagon, a/t, 250k with the 2.2:banana: Drives nice, shifts nice, and almost no rust (a few quarter sized holes in the same old spots)

The guy was getting rid of it due to a fuel line leak:confused:

SCORE!!!!:headbang:

This is admittedly the first 2.2 Ive owned (always had 1.8s or 2.5s) I know the engine is darn near bulletproof ...but anything I need to watch for?

Thanks guys and gals!

:D :D :D :D :D (end gleeful rant):D :D :D :D :D :

You couldn't steal it that cheap, backwoodsboy, good one.

The 2.2 might need a timing belt. If you have records you will be able to tell. If not look carefully at the oil pump and water pump when the belt's off.

If you live someplace where they salt the roads you might look at the fuel plumbing under a plastic cover in the right rear wheel well.

I will have to check out the belt for sure.....what are they, 80k change interval, right?

The guy has LOTS of records.....so Ill have to peruse them thoroughly.

btw, thanks for the tip about the plate in the wheel well. Ill have to look there before I go tearing the tank out! (yeah, we get LOTS of salt up here):banghead:

The recommended timing belt interval is 60k. The first one was due on my '93 at 105k for some reason (did they use a better belt? If so, how come you can't buy it from the dealer?) http://www.cars101.com/subaru/subaru_maintenance.html shows maintenance intervals right out of the books.

You're going to post up some pictures of this car, right?

Yeah.....gotta get 'er home 1st......then take some pics.

I think I'll do my usual "new subaru initiation" routine with it (go mudding for a whole night.......THEN go to the DMV!):headbang::brow:

You don't know how jealous I am right now. That's a damn good deal if I ever saw one. I bought a really nice condition 90 leg AWD 5spd wagon a while back for 800 plus tax and licensing and now I find out that it needs a tranny! Nice find.

These threads hurt me lol, u spend so much to restore the car, and dont shop around for a good price, and dont do proper maintenance, and u end up spending 10,000CDN betweenttranny to rust, but thats like 7k US i believe.

congrats on the 93' leg...i have a 93' also ..just tripped 245K....

runs like a champ....spark:headbang:

Looking good. I really like the first generation Legacy wagons. Mine has "only" 230K miles but I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long trip.

I bet you'll like it a lot, backwoodsboy. When you get out on the highway and set the cruise, that car will just eat up the miles - and if you have the room you'll be surprised just how comfortable it is at 100+.

Hec ive drivin the H2 to arizona twice in the last 2 yrs and never had one thing go wrong......its a tank....i'am going again in the spring/summer...highmilage isn't the prob ..these Leg's can take it...
