How to unfreeze a seized O2 sensor turbo

Featured Replies

I bought some pbblaster and will saturate the O2 with that tonight but what else can I try to unseize an O2 sensor??

thanks

cut it off and then drill it out....haha i guess just keep doing what your doing....those are a pain to get out

Soaking the thread area with penetrating oil is a good idea. Also IIRC, it helps to run the engine a little and get the pipe warm (doesn't have to be hot) before wrenching on it.

My experience is soak with Kroil every few days starting as far in advance of the job as possible. It does seem to come out easier with the exhaust warm, like after running for maybe a minute. If wrenching on it in the lefty loosey direction doesn't work sometimes alternating between that and righty tightey can help loosen it. I like to use something (wrench socket whatever) in 6 point rather than 12 point if possible.

I've heard that on some Ford diff drain plugs I think it was the dealers warm the drain plug and melt some real beeswax on it and then it comes right out, I don't know if that might work for O2 sensors too!?

yea...what a great story killer...i wanted to hear how u were bashing ur knuckles trying to break it loose...and then u rounded off the treads etc. etc.

j/k good for u haha i wish all my frozen bolts would come off like that

Snap-On O2 sensor socket + Impact wrench

As I just got an electric Inpact I'm going to give this a go next time. Last one I did , on a Justy, brought the threads out with it.
