4WD light

Featured Replies

Umm is the 4wd light suppose to go off when not in 4wd. when out of 4WD its just a dim lighting of the 4wd thing, and when reved up somtimes it goes almost off but not quite. and when put into 4wd it lights up bright, but for some reason the LO light doesnt go on when its in low, unless u pull up on the lever further, it flickers or comes on, but when u stop pulling up on it and let it go into its free rest position in LO the light goesoff, but im pretty sure it is in LO even tho the lights not on but the levers in lo. this is a 86 rx 4WD D/R

Lo light is controlled by a switch on the lever. The contacts on them get bent - look under the plastic shifter cover.

Dim glowing of indicator lights (especially that changes with engine RPM) usually means AC output from the alternator - check your alt.

uh oh, that could be it, wouldnt that trigger a Charge light? or no? I notive my voltage gauge wont go any higher than 12

the charge light in my loyale didn't come on when i fried my last alt. it just made everything get real bright and then both my headlights burnt out at about the same time. kinda bad because it happened on my way to work at 4:30am.

use a volt meter to check what your alt is putting out. it should be about 14 volts. 12 is a little low.
