Recommended Plug Wires

Featured Replies

What is a good aftermarket wire ? Specifically anyone have a model number they have currently running on their Soob? I know I have seen Accel, and MSD run by some people, but a search of the board has not rendered exact info. Some of the manufaturers websites don't always do so well to find a fit for my engine when I try to use the vehicle selection utility.

It looks like to me any standard plug wire will fit but I know sometimes the wires can get too long for my H4 engine.

Thanks all,

You could give Magnecor a shot http://www.magnecor.com... Just ask what wires they have for a 4 cylinder Subaru with a distributor...

Just be warned: they don't like to attach to their connectors very much. Be SURE they're all the way on before you start driving the car...

I got a set of 8mm Accel super stock wires. I had to buy the "cut your own size" set for a V8. Cost me about $27, which is a hell of a deal considering 7.5mm Autolites are usually $30 anyway's.

It was very simple to cut the wires to length, and made it look real nice under the hood. Also the wires were yellow, and that helped. I got them when i got my Accel superstock coil, and also regapped my plugs to .050". There is a noticeable difference when the car is climbing through the gears. In 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, i can accelerate alot faster through the gears, in 4th its still kinda sluggish but this is on my EA81 with a 4spd.

The magnacore's are a good wire, but i cant find them anywhere except on the net. I was able to buy my Accel's from AutoZone, and i have 4 extra cause I bought a V8 set and only used 4 wires.

Who'd have thunk it? The best deal I could find on wires was at G. I. Joes, using a 20% off coupon for Autolite wires. They (Autolite) may not be the very best (Magnecors) but they serve the purpose.

I was thinking of getting some magnecore's myself. They'll ship them to you direct from their factory for $5. The sets for my car are $41.68 (7mm) and $43.95 (8mm). Im not sure about a turbo.

And after you enter the site, there's a Subaru right there !

Is that a WRX ?

Anyway ... thanks for the help everyone.

87 Turbo

They were really quick with a response to my email. They said they would even C.O.D. them to me for an extra $7. Nice.:D

Here's a pic of the Accel wires and coil in my brat:

I dont think i'll ever go back to regular 7mm or 7.5mm wires. And since the V8 set came with 8 wires, i have 4 extra to go into my wagon as well :)

is there any difference between the wires on a 87 turbo mpfi and a 89 n/a spfi?

The part numbers are different, but I can't confirm or deny whether they could be interchanged or not.
