Ok, I was playin' around with my EA81 89 hatch again, go figure:rolleyes: , and I noticed that the ND disty has what looks like a dual pickup. One on each side with wires going from one to another. Whats the benefit of this? It isn't a dual fire or wasted spark ignition, so is it just redundancy to insure that it creates a signal?

Is it still one signal, or pulse, going to the coil?

Is the Hitachi disty the same? or is it a singal pick-up?

hitachi is a different critter with it's star wheel and goal post setup or 360 slits
