How do I dispose of used brake parts?

Featured Replies

I have replaced rotors and pads myself. Are those used brake parts considered as environmental harzards? Can I safely dump in a garbage can?

Thanks!

They are non asbestos so you can just toss them in the trash.

you're in california, they probably are considered contaminated out there!

actually, you should also be able to drop them at a scrap yard/junk yard, they'll recycle them.

if its not out of your way, just bring them to the closest dealership to your normal travels, and ask if you can give them the rotors, i don't see why they'd say no, and the junk guy that comes and picks them up for scrap can make a couple of bucks off them.
