Water in footwell/possible cause?

Recommended Posts

I just bought a Brat (now off the road) and hadn't had it out in the rain. There was a heavy downpour last week and when I came to look inside yesturday, the carpets where completely soaked. As I said - it was sitting on the driveway when the rains came so it wasn't road wetness that caused it....

The car was recently involved in a passenger side impact but I had never seen it after rain to rule this out but here is a piccy of the rubber seal on passenger side windshield.... Could this be the cause?????

I assume the picture shows the windshield popped open and with about a quarter inch crack on the side. That is probably the cause of your dilemma.

Thanks,

Yeah, there is a quarter inch crack between the rubber seal and the body in that one location. Not sure how to tell if the windshield popped up???

I do have a new seal that I was going to use on another Brat - Is the solution to have a glass shop replace the seal?

Does the water get under the seal, trickle downwards and enter the cabin at the lower corner of the windshield? Is there a hole into the cabin at the bottom of the windshield? If so, that wouldn't make sense to me.

You answered your own question here. As for a hole being at the bottom corner of the WS opening, I believe ther is, dont ask me why tho but I think its supposed to drain outside of the cabin.
