January 23, 200719 yr Yes I searched! I had A t belt go today (drivers side) I know how to re set everthing and Im pretty sure its right but for some reason now It wont start and it pops back trough the carb. Is it possible some how I bent a Valve? I dont have a compresion gauge so i cant do a test( I know buy one .But im broke) So any help would be great. Thanks
January 23, 200719 yr Nope - backfireing through the carb is an indication your valve timing is off. Make sure you are using the valve timing marks on the flywheel not the ignition timing marks, and put the drivers side cam mark straight up, the passenger side straight down, and throw the belts on. ONLY after you have done this, set the timing on the distributor. Comp. test won't help you if the valve timing is off. GD

January 24, 200719 yr Author Thanks! I was a long side of the highway and it was getting dark so I will re do it tommrow. This is the first time in the four years I have had this car I had to get it towed. Every time I get this car running really good it poops on me but I can allways get her gone again. What realy sucks is I have got her running so good I hit 7.200 rpm getting on the highway
January 24, 200719 yr Yea make sure its on the middle of the 3 lines on the flywheel through the inspection cover on the transmission. And then set the drivers up put the belt on, then rotate the enigine 360 degrees, then aim the passenger side up and then put that belt on, should start right up!
