November 21, 200322 yr How do you adjust the AC Kick-up Solenoid? When I hit my defroster it kicks my idle up to almost 3 grand.
November 22, 200322 yr I don't know - but maybe just have a look at the thing - there's got to be something amiss if it's going that high. I've never heard of one doing that. Just take a look and see if there's some screw somewhere or something. That's what I would do anyway. GD
November 22, 200322 yr Author There is a threaded shaft sticking from the back of it and a nut on that. I tried backing the nut off and turning the shaft and nothing it won't budge. Other than that it is just a sealed vacuum diaphram. So I am at a loss. I could modify the arm on the throttle that it makes contact with so that it doesn't open the throttle so much. But I would think there was another way.
November 22, 200322 yr Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak - what is your idle at without the AC? Vacuum leak can cause high idle. GD
November 22, 200322 yr Goat the defrost position turns on the AC so the air out the dash vents is dehumidified. If you have your AC compressor disconnected or for some reason it does not function then the high idle is not needed. Just disconnect it.
November 22, 200322 yr Author Everything is hooked up as normal and the AC works fine, other than causing a High Idle. The idle with climate control off is about 850, stable. Just passed emissions too. No vac leaks. If I unhook the vacuum line to that kick-up solenoid then when I activate AC or defrost I loose about 100 or so RPM at idle. But maybe that is the answer if I can't adjust it. I would prefer, obviously to keep everything as it should be. Maybe I'll call the service department at the dealer.
