Yay I Found My Exhaust Gaskets

Featured Replies

This just in... I ordered my exhaust manifold gaskets and they came in a nice little box with a part number on them!!! I dont know how old these are but, I think the part number is still the same, They are Fel-Pro 92996, I hope this helps someone.... Finally I will hit at least stock boost level again, my car will move out of its own way!

When putting these gaskets on I use aluminium alfoil about 2 layers thick wraped around the gasket. I only get exhaust leaks when I hit something offroad now. Where I used to get exhaust leaks all the freakin time.

Ok... Ill give that a try, the whole reason this started is because the bolts fell of the header, has this happond to you?

I had to go buy new nuts from ace hardware (SS by the way:banana:) and I also put lock washers underneath them, but The stock nuts have little bumps on them to lock them, Does anyone know where to get these nuts?

I haven't looked at the fel-pros myself, but if they don't have the little metal ring around the inside like the OEM gaskets, they will blow out after a while.

Yeah they have the little ring. Is there a certain way there supposed to fit?

I usually don't worry about that. If the nut falls off, I usually put a second one on there and tighten it down on top of the first nut. Keeps 'em from coming off.

I've had to replace some studs in the turbo and in the heads a while ago and got all the hardware from a toyota dealer, apparently they use the same threads as subaru (M10x1.25) those nuts where of the self-locking type with the little bumps on them, just like the originals.

Really? is there a specific toyota model that has these studs?

The studs and nuts are available from Subaru FYI

yes ofcourse that is your main source, but the subaru dealers here didn't have them in stock and anything older then a legacy sounds like mumbo jumbo to them, so I kinda figured it out on my own.

I don't know which model toyota has them, I guess they all do, I just asked for M10x1.25 exhaust studs and they worked like a charm. You might want to bring an old nut with you though, to make sure you have the proper studs.

Aluminium Foil Wrappin´ the Gaskets! Nice Very Good Idea!!!

Thanx! :)
