April 6, 200719 yr Does anyone know of a way to make the S# mode always-on in an Outback XT? I know it won't engage until it's warmed up a bit, but I'd prefer not to have to switch over to the mode every time I start the car again. Seems like another Subaru gotcha', much like the "I agree" button on the Nav system. I'm hoping someone has figured out a way around this? Thanks, -pete
April 6, 200719 yr Author whats the S# mode? nipper Sport-Sharp means the flatter-torque curve mode with quicker down-shifts and slower up-shifts. Basically it makes the car drive more like it's advertised:)

If the car is under warrenty i would leave it be. If its not all it is is a switch that changes the shift patterns. I would pull the console and poke around the shifter to see which leads are the one that do it. If it also affects the fuel map (which i suspect it might) it may not be doable. You may not be able to wire them hot all the time, as it may give conflicting info to the tcu when in P R N, or you may be able to. Only one way to find out. nipper

Only one way to find out. nipper Erm, I think this is with the i-Drive system. Not exactly a "hot-wire" type issue, I don't think. There may be a setting somewhere in the ECU/TCU, or it may be something that is able to be set by flashing the unit (read- performance shop, ie: PDX Tuning or someone)
April 6, 200719 yr i think you'd have to do some re-programming of the ECU/TCU unit.. which.. might not be the best thing to do... especially with a new vehicle... I guess you could look for something like a cobb accessport... or get it protuned...
