How many are there? im trying to get it off, and it just doesent wanna come off maybe im blind and not seeing all the bolts pictures maybe? thanks

There should only be two bolts holding the starter on. Sometimes they don't want to come out and just require some encouragement.

Yup, 2 fasteners, one bolt, one nut. The flange does get gunked up, and sometimes they tend to stick a little, get a rubber mallet and give it a couple wacks, should come right out.

Also, if it hasn't been removed there will be a small metal bracket that sort of holds the starter in place. Sometimes you can twist the starter to get it out. Other times you'll have to move the bracket.

 

But to answer your question there are two. A 14mm headed nut and bolt that also doubles as the trans to engine bolt(top of the starter) and a 17mm headed nut on the underside of the starter.(might even be a 14mm if it's been changed out before.)

you might have to take the positive battery cable off to get the bolt out all the way. there is a small wire that clips to the back of the starter. the ground wire connects to a metal piece thet fits thrut he bolt, dont forget to put the bolt thru it when it goes back together.

 

the top of the starter fits between the trans and the pitch bar bracket. take that side out and towards the side to get it out.

 

once out, you will notice a stud. when putting the starter in, put the stud end on first, and rotate the starter body towards the trans to get the top part between the trans and the bracket. put the ground cable on the bolt, and the n put the bolt thru. then put on the positive cable and its boot.
