halyva
When brakes applied I can feel a slight move of a shifter forward. Feels like a whole tranny pulls a shifter forward. I only noticed it when I was standing down hill and slowly released and pushed brakes again. There are no noises or sounds… but I can see that a shifter moves maybe ¼ inch forward. I have 5 speed manual 2001 Forester. Any ideas?
nipper
bad motor mount someplace. I've had older soobies do this and really were never bothered. Also cars with shifters attached to the transmission and not the car body will do the same thing sometimes. nipper
OB99W
Have the engine/trans mounts checked. If you were in a rust-belt state (or the car came from one), I'd suggest having the whole underbody looked at for corrosion-related problems. halyva
Thank you all. A car has been in Alabama all its life and there is no rust issues at all but I will definitely check engine and tranny mounts . Thanks again.
