halyva
Forester 2001 5 speed MT does one misfiring sometimes when an engine goes from high rpm to idle. For instance when I accelerate and then put on neutral an engine produces a single misfiring. It does it very seldom. Any ideas how to resolve this issue? nipper
Almost sounds like a fuel injector issue. When was the last time this thing had a tuneup? ALso have the codes pulled. nipper
halyva
I don't get any error codes... but have not done tuneup for a while... Likely it's time. I will start with injector cleaner and sparkplugs.... Thank you.

Olnick
Yeah, and wax the car too. (Shiny cars always run better!)
OB99W
Yeah, and wax the car too. (Shiny cars always run better!) Of course, but cleaning other parts may make more of a difference. For example, if the EGR valve isn't fully closing (or closing fast enough) as the engine falls back to idle, the mixture will be excessively leaned; that can cause misfire. If there's carbon buildup at the EGR, cleaning it may resolve the problem.
