When did I get an SVX? I didn't, my coworker (and of next week I'll be reporting to her) says her SVX loses power and stalls if she doesn't let it warm up for 3 minutes. She also told me that some guy who works at her store said he used to work for Subaru and the reason the car stalls is because the turbo needs to warm up. I told her that there was probably a good reason he didn't work for Subaru anymore.

 

So anyway, what might cause an SVX to stall? It's in pretty good shape otherwise and got a new transmission recently.

You're a lucky guy, Sako. Fits right in with my theory that Subaru owners are the most caring, considerate people on the road. USMB offers ample proof of that!

 

And +1 on the engine coolant temperature sensor as Emily said. Skip's suggestion of checking/cleaning the IACV is a good idea too.

The throttle body often collects a lot of carbon right after the throttle plates. All of this carbon build up is from the EGR system. It dumps it right in there. Stalling and low end rpm surging is common. Cleaning out the throttle body will often solve many problems at low rpm's when the throttle plates are almost closed.
