I have an 89 DL wagon and the U joint is worne out in the very rear, I was wondering if I could take the back half of the driveline out and drive the car like that till I can get a replacement? It has the 2 piece driveline Thanks a bunch for your help

Yes, that works fine. I had the same problem once and removed the rear section of the driveline for a temp fix.

I drove an 87 around for almost 2yrs without the back half before locating a assembly.

so long as you have a working center differential lock it will work fine. a PT4WD trans or locking center diff full time 4WD box will do it.

DL is the base, base model, almost no options. Only available with PT 4wd

i have done the same myself. also, you can replace the rear half of the driveshaft from any MT or AT 4wd shaft, the rears are teh same.
