Vibration on take off?

Featured Replies

hi, i now have a stupid vibration on take off. Now i have one cv with a broken boot, and when i drive around for about 10 mins, i get about a 80F hotter temperature at that one CV with a broken boot when compared to the other CV. And the brakes were like 200 on the wheel, and 110 on the side with a good CV. I also noticed 2 screw are missing in the transmission mount :confused: looks like one has a broken bolt, i see the thread in it. the other one has no bolt in it. Any ideas?

and if i make a u turn i get binding, like the center consle vibrates tremendosly.

AT or MT?

Replace the CV axle and fix any other items you found to be broken, then see if you still have the vibration. There's no point trying to diagnose something when you have known components that could affect/contribute to the vibration.

i agree totally with the above statement.

if you were trying to be as inexpensive as possible and wanted a "test", then you could pack some grease in the CV joint by hand. pack grease all up in there by hand, rotating the joint around and packing, packing, packing. if it goes away, then it's definitely CV related. if it doens't, then it could still be cv related and you proved nothing.

like he just said, there's no point in guessing what else it could be until you find out whether the known broken boot is causing it. a loose mount can easily cause vibrations as well, so you need to look into that broken mount as well.

Ok thanks. i read some other posts. and i thought it might be the center driveshaft bearing. But there is no play. Just play when i rotate it, i guess thats normal? This weekend ill go to subaru, for oil change, on the front and rear differential and my engine oil i overfilled about 2x lol, and its black now......... Now for those bolts, probably weakens the tranny mount quiete a bit. I do get some vibration from the engine as well, so maybe i should replace it now, not a shiver, just a solid vibration. Anyone know where i can find the bolt size?

@Legacy777 its a AT.

the drive shaft and carrier bearing is more like a mysterious vibration at speed that comes and goes. If it is actaully there at startup that means it really has gotten badly worn.

Vibration your talking about is more like the bad CV joint.

How are you measuring temperitures?

infared gun. Looking for a FWD cv right now.

The flip side to one wheel being hotter then the other, is not that one brake is dragging, but that the other isnt working as hard.

Today went for transmission,differentials,and engine oil change. Spent $200 at the dealer. Car seems smoother the vibration is not as bad,but alot smoother, still pulls a tiny bit to the left. Still haven't found a used axle.

Shifts well now, and AWD works properly from WOT runs on dirt. But i get a crack, when it shifts, like if im driving, then get off the gas, i guess before it was just about to shift, i get a flex somewhere in my interior and get a crack, still guessing the dashboard.

Now im looking for these tranny mount bolts, still haven't found anything, anyone know where to get them? thanks guys.
