Spark plug wires for 97 legacy

Featured Replies

I just got a set of OEM wires for a 1997 Legacy. On the coil pack side, 2 wires are straight while 2 wires have a 90 angle. Which wire goes on which plug? I checked my car and all of the wires have straight plugs to the coil pack?

Wires are wires, so it doesn't really matter.

does the box say Subaru on it and did you get them from the dealer?Alot of boxes say meet OEM specs whereas they are really generic lengths with generic resistance.

The two 90's go on the drivers side of the coil pack, pointing downward. The wire then loops back up to the plastic holder brackets. Usually those wires are for the 2.5l, you don't see that on the 2.2l

right, but I think they are for the newer 2.5l, my 97 OBW has all straight plugs, but they need to bend down under the throttle cable and the right angle wires probably fit better.

These were ordered online at genuinesubaruparts.com. As long as they fit, I guess everything is cool.

the coil side doesn't matter so long as it doesn't interfere with anything, like said the 90 degree helps it clear the throttle cables and there are wire holders underneath. but, if you don't have clearance issues then you're fine.

the EJ25 and EJ22 are sensitive beasts in the wire department, so be glad you got the OEM Subaru wires.
