June 24, 200718 yr I have been having some pinging problems with my '90 legacy... I used some good quality fuel systen cleaner (redline) and I changed the plugs and I have been running good quality gas (chevron premium) -- any suggestions? The pinging only happens when it is warm outside...

June 24, 200718 yr Tried it all on my 2000 Legacy GT, cooler plugs, higher grade gas, Scientology...no difference. It's just another sound of summer. I get the feeling there is a missing link in the sensor department that would adjust for air and humidity...
June 24, 200718 yr also check to make sure the EGR valve is functioning. Not all ping is bad and avoidable. nipper
June 24, 200718 yr In addition to the other suggestions, I would note that pinging can be caused by carbon buildup. Misting water into the inlet track will clean the cylinders (and smoke out the neighborhood).
