brake pads for the rear discs, what year of pads do i buy

Featured Replies

well i have the rear disc brake set up. but i need the pads. what years and models can i buy the pads for?

I always ask for 1987 Subaru RX Rear Disc Pads. Because all the parts are the same, but the RX is the only model that came with ONLY rear disk brakes.

so as long as i buy rx pads they are rear discs. and it doesn't matter wether it's out of a wagon turbo?

cool. '87 rx it is.

i just ordered them for mine, out of a napa book, and all the rear discs were listed as the same part number. as long as you are ordering rear discs, for a 90 and earlier, you will get the correct ones. comeone correct me if you know this to be false. but be nice about it, my feelings get hurt.

but those parts guys are dumb, so ask for the rx stuff.

Pretty sure you could buy pads for any '85 to '90 EA82 and they will work. 99% sure they are all the same.

The part numbers are all the same, the reason why I say use RX Pads is because there is almost no way the idiot behind the counter will get your rear drum pads instead, as the RX never came with drums.

but aren't drum "pads" called shoes? not that that matters any as there are idiots behind the counters at most part stores

they are all idiots here at the parts counter. they start speaking to me in spanish, i have to specify english, no habla espano. or something like that. then they try to tell me the part that they list is the right part. they also look at me dumbfounded cause every time i come in and during the same order, the year of the car keeps changing. "is this for the same car", yes it's a hybrid subaru. :madder: look out the window and tell me if that looks stock!! rx sounds like a good idea.
