Getting parts in Mexico. Experiences?

Featured Replies

Subarus aren't on the list of the type of car I'm supposed to take to Mexico, 18 hours down. But it's not a great time to be switching cars.

Anyone have any experiences getting soob parts way down in Mexico?

i got a replacment oil cap that had a sticker that said made in mexico but i peeled it off and it said USA in big letters of cours i got it at napa.

Subaru has never been imported into Mexico...you may see the odd one, most likely cars from the '80's that for what ever reason never made it back with the original owner..if you go there make sure that you have on hand a dependable parts source that can be reached thru the Phone (internet would be secondary) and who would be willing to ship immediately to an address that is different from your billing address

Thanks so much for the replies. It paints the picture.

Please keep spirt of this forum: that's what the Internet was about in the first place: people helping people. What goes around comes around.

Check your car insurance. Most US policies are not valid in Mexico. You need to buy a policy at the border (i thin) or a rider. Call your agent and ask.

Also dont leave anything in plain sight in the car. Mexico is still the wild wild west.
