Sewoolf@ptdprolog.net
I'm about to replace the driver's rear hub on a 91 Legacy turbo AWD w/ ABS. I need some help. Anyone have step by step instructions, including the tools I will need and other relevant info such torque specifications, common problems, etc. Thanks. lmdew
Lots of WD40 or other good penatrating oil. Let it soak for a few weeks ahead of time. 17 and 19 mm 6 point 1/2 dirve sockets. Socket for the axle nut Large breaker bars. Rust will fight you all the way. The bottom strut attach bolt that goes to the arm may be rusted tight at any place along the length of the bolt. Use a punch to drive out the axle nut locking punch mark With the car on the ground and brakes set, break the nut loose. Remove the tire Loosen the bottom bolt that holds the knuckle to the arms. Remove the brake caplier and disk Remove the 2 bolts holding the knuckle to the strut Drive the axle out of the hub Replace any bad parts and re-install
Sewoolf@ptdprolog.net
Thank you. I'm starting at 6:30 AM tomorrow. Also replacing rotors and pads all the way around.
86BRATMAN
Here in the rust belt, wd-40 is useless. PB Blast or Sea Foam Deep Creap are the only things I've found that will touch the rust welds the belts get here. Plan on replacing at least the long bolt on the bottom. Sewoolf@ptdprolog.net
Almost done putting it back together. Hardest part was putting the damn e-brake back together. Job went smoothly all in all.
Sewoolf@ptdprolog.net
Just took a test drive. Very quiet but ABS light came on. Restarted and it seemed ok.
