Can you do the o-rings in an EA82 without having to do the belts? Mine are in great shape,i just have bad leaks..thanks!

Sure, you take the belts off, remove the oil pump, and have at it, rebuilding it, putting a new "mickey mouse gasket", and put back what ever belts you choose.

 

BUT: it's not like those belts cost a whole lot, and say they have 40,000 on them, you might as well?

Belts rarely show any wear before failure. They always look "great" till they snap in half. It's not the rubber that fails - it's the internal wire's that hold the rubber together.

Thats what i figured..i will do them if i have to go that far. I didnt know if i could just pull the pump off by itself..thanks.

oil pump is driven by the timing belt, so the belts have to be removed, no way around it.
