November 27, 200718 yr Edrach, In one of the pictures for replacing EJ axles there is a drift, the long one, looks to be for driving the axle roll pin back in. Where'd you get it? and thanks for the "how to", replaced both front shafts today. Piece of cake, well sort of. Thanks
November 27, 200718 yr I found it on ebay by accident. Great piece of luck too. It's basically a 3/16" drift with a one foot shank. I don't need the extra length for the EA81/82 cars but it's real useful on my Legacy since there's stuff in the way of my hammer using a standard drift tool.
November 27, 200718 yr Hm...time to find one of those! I didn't have one so I used a 7/32" pin punch taped in a socket with a socket extension as a drift.
November 28, 200718 yr I have an actual Mac tool that is a "Subaru axle pin tool" it was on sale for $14.99, normally $19.99 Yes, a 5/32 punch will work, but the tool has a step on the end that fits inside the pin, makes putting them back in a lot easier. (That and the tool is like a foot long)
November 30, 200718 yr Author Thanks Did a search on google, came up with this. http://www.toolsource.com/subaru-axle-removal-tool-p-100154.html?sourceid=froogle
December 1, 200718 yr Mac axle tool is PN LT-730. Also lifetime warranty. I know cause I have one at work and the tip broke on it. Got a new one when he came around a couple weeks ago.
