Featured Replies

I was givin a set of rebuilt heads off of an early Subie. The casting #'s are e-71 I can't find any info on these at all. If you know please reply and shed some light on the subject.

I think those are going to be EA81 heads. But I will have to look at a set in my garage to be sure. If you could post a pic we could tell you instantly....

Incidentally - do you work for Delta Cam? Just curious....

Very cool. You guys are legendary around here. Lots of old school Subaru folks have used your products in the years I've been here. Been meaning to get one for an EA81 myself.

I'll have a look at my heads in a few also.

What Subaru's do you own? Any promotional vehicles?

the E71 heads are from an EA71 or the 1600cc motor. Now there's two different heads per say. One head is for the standard EA71 from the 70's and then there's the fat case EA81 which is basically an EA81 version of the EA71.

Thank you for the info.

He is likely correct on that. I checked my EA81 heads, and despite my thinking that they also said E71 on them the casting indeed reads E81.

I beleive you are safe in assuming those are EA71 heads. An intresting find as those engines aren't particularly common anymore. Only used in the STD hatch after 81 if I recall correctly.

Theres a guy here in TX that is looking for some EA71 heads and pistons.

If you want to get rid of the heads, I can put you guys in touch.

EDIT: Just saw who you were and your location. I have spent more of my life in Tacoma than any other place. Lived in the area for most of 28 years. Was actually in Tacoma for 19 or so years.

Good work over there at Delta- I have one of your cams running the 300-6 in my F250. I need to get one for the 390 in my F100, maybe something nice and hot for the 351w in my Galaxie, maybe a roller.....
