help.it dies when I press the gas

Featured Replies

my 1984 subaru gl wagon offroad toy is having a bit of a problem. It seems the gas pedal is really low in the travel(its almost on the floor. and it seems if I give it abit to much gas it dies.this is when trying to move it.I can get it moving by VERY slowly letting out the clutch and then it will move it just seems like it wants to stall very easily.it idles fine.Just when I try to get moving...It probally doesnt help that 2.5 of the wheels the brakes are sticking..and the gas is who knows how old...Again I can move it with the clutch it just dosnt seem to like the gas pedal much. How can I fix it stalling when gas is applied?it seems even prone to stalling if pressed in neutral even..How can I fix the gas pedal so it is not like on the floor?Granted I haven't taken it to any sorta speed just idling to and from places for a bit.Ive probally driven it about 200FT total(just flushed the cooling system, before that there wasnt any coolant so I tried not to run it..

I dunno get the wheels so they arent sticking, put street tires on it and drive around the block and see if it resolves itself. But it runs like a champ when it runs though.Might need to fix its millions of exhaust leaks but thats another day..and I need to put a relay between the ignition and starter so it will start without jumping the positive side of the battery to the signal wire on the starter...

Sounds like plugged fuel filters or accelerator pump gone bad. I would check the filters first.
