psychsurf
Hitachi, or panasonic?
GLCraig
It's a panasonic, the Hitachi is a bit bigger.

john in KY
Should also have a data plaque on the underside.
psychsurf
Crap, so then this one won't work because it only has one pully, right? Damn, that's a pain. Anyone have a good compressor like mine?
PoorManzImpreza
I though the hitachi was the factory installed setup and panasonic the dealer installed setup..factory being alt on the outside and dealer being compressor on the outside.. In that case he'd have the hitachi setup no? now I'm unsure :-\ the above picture does look like the compressor outside or 'dealer installed' setup, what I thought was the Panasonic setup Kaz

john in KY
Got one from an 85 XT turbo I pulled years ago and saved. Can't tell from your posts which one you are looking for. Also mine has the serpentine pulley. Thinking all the turbo XTs came with that belt design.
Skip
I hope your tech knows about the pulser cicuit on these and hasn't mis diagnosed the comp problem.
psychsurf
That sounds interesting, skip! Can you elaborate?
Skip
psyc, you have not described the problem except that the AC doesn't work and the comp is bad. The pulser is seen hanging in front of the comp pulley in the factory installed units. This sends pulses to the AC control unit, without this pulse the AC will not function. I do not know how common this type of protection circuit is, just wondering if your tech knows about it. Just a thought, sorry if it's NA (Not Applicable)
psychsurf
Oh, my bad, I thought you were talking about that in reference to my other electrical gremlins. On the compressor, the shaft seal is definitely bad. They filled it with coolant and dye, and there's green stuff all over the front.
