January 13, 200818 yr Hello, I,m new to USMB and am thoroughly impressed with the whole thing. I own a 94 Legacy Wagon, awd pushing 190k miles. I'm having trouble with shoulder belts not sliding like they should. They won't move at all. The fuel gage quit at around 180k and I had the instrument cluster loose trying to figgure it out when the lighting on gages went south too. Clock works untill headlights are on then it goes dead. Fuses under the dash seem good. Radio lights are gone. Anyone got a clue? I found some little chachkey lights that plug into the cig lighter to illuminate stuff but i'm getting tired of 'em. Thanks much.
January 13, 200818 yr I dont know if this year has one, but by any chance while you were fiddling did you smell a little smoke? Its possible, if you have one, that you burned out the illumiination controler. Fuel gauge, check it at the tank, i bet its dead. Very rare the gauge itself goes bad, if never. nipper
January 13, 200818 yr Welcome to the board RU OK. Lots of good help available here. The fuel gauge problem is pretty common and is usually due to dirty contacts on the sensor(s), there may be two, in the tank. It could be a broken wire so the sensor also. If the fuses are ok for the dash lighting then you have a problem with the dimmer control. You may just have to replace the seatbelt retractor due to age.

Don't remember any smoke signals. I didn't inhale. Really!

Got some good leads on parts sources from this site too.
