Removing heater motor

Featured Replies

Hi All-

I have loud heater motor in my '99 Impreza. Anybody have tips on the best way to remove it. I am hoping it just needs cleaning but I guess I won't know until I take it out.

Thanks!

get on you knees and

well look behind the glove box

There are four bolts IIRC and the plug

Right there snow worries mate.

shot from an older model but very much the same

P.S. I had to remove the one in my 00 Imp

every year.

The field mice must have thought they were squirrels

and would make camp in the

yep ...... squirrel cage.

Looks pretty much like the same set up on the 91 Leggy that I owned. I thought the blower motor was going bad, but upon removing the motor, I found it gummed up with leaves and twigs and such. Cleaned it up, reinstalled it, and found it to work good as new.

On my 97 Legacy wagon I had to remove the metal brace right under the glove box to have room to remove the motor. It is only about the length of the glove box with a screw or bolt at each end and very easy to remove.

Yes blower is typically behind the glove box. Sometimes leaves, mouse nests, nuts, seeds, etc etc get in there.

Nice pic skip! What software did you use to put the captions on there?

Thanks Porc, coming from you that means a ton!!

I use an antique version of "IPhoto Plus" for most of my

changes.

But..

I am but a mere mortal compared to you.

You RULE, period, end of story ect....

Thanks for leading the way

and

thanks for the compliment.

Hm...maybe I will check out iphoto plus. I have actually just been using microsoft paint to do captions, which works ok. But on .jpg I don't see any option for quality on saves. I think it defaults to quality 70 which makes things blurry. But yours look sharp!
