Any one ever use a 2WD disc in a 4WD cluch rump roast.? (EA82) Acording to the parts house they are the same hub, the 4WD is just 1" bigger in dia.

I know it will not have the same holding power, but would it work?

You'd want to have the flywheel that matches the size.

but the problem is that the 2x has its own spline(output shaft on the tranny), and you cant put a 2x on a 4x, or vise versa.

I'm a little confused - which way are you going? You could put a 2WD EA81 tranny in, and use a 4WD clutch disc for an EA81..... I know the 2WD and 4WD on the EA81 have the same splines....

Acording to the parts store:rolleyes: ,2WD and 4WD are the same spline count/shaft dia. But the 4WD disc is 1" bigger, and $30 more:eek: This is just for my DD so it's no pwer house that needs all the cluch it can get. The cluch will slip if I floor it in any gear @ any speed right now:-p So I need a cheep fix.

yah, i think ea81 are the same spline. but ea82s are different, i know for sure. the big one only comes with the 1 spline count, and the the little ones come in both i guess. but the diameter of the outside is different.

 

if you want to use a small clutch you would need a small flywheel, theres not an inch more surface area around the friction part. the clutch would sit half way on the pressure plate, and halfway off.

 

5 bucks plus shipping, the rivits are still pretty far down there, but you never know. check out the parts bin. thats where i found mine the cheapest about 1 month ago, for just the friction plate.
