i love seafoam

Featured Replies

i picked up an 83 gl 5-door wagon for free today. put some seafoam through it, and this is what we saw:

if i had waited about another minute there would have been a lot more smoke. instantly noticed a 2-300RPM drop in idle speed, smoother idle, more noticeable acceleration, and a little better fuel mileage (won't be able to tell more until i fill it up again).

:popcorn:

neat to sit back and watch it happen....

Nice score on the Subaru, great price and welcome to the message board!

........

My 2 cents: In case your totaly new too the roo's;

You may be due for a valve adjustment on the EA-81 motor if it hasn't been done in awhile. (Non Hydraulic lifters up till about mid 1984 or so need it every 10K miles or so.) It isn't a very diffecult job to do, time, new valve cover gaskets and a chance to bond with the roo. How too do it is in the owners manual if still in the glove box, recommended not too loosen the head bolts as shown, just assure head bolts tight, adjust valve clearance and put covers back on.

thanks, will definitely check that out. yah i was pretty happy with the price as well :lol:

Agreed, I inherited an 81 DL Wagon a couple months ago, and I've been running through little improvements; the Seafoam yielded a great result. I did it in my driveway (whoops), and there was WAY more smoke than I expected... I was kind of afraid someone would call the fire department.

It was worth it though, things are definitely running smoother now. That stuff's a miracle for around $8 a can.

Seafoam wasn't able to fix my burned up rod bearing this morning, but I still love the stuff.:grin:

I think the last owner of that car tried that too. It didn't work.... But having oil to go through it would have helped.:lol:
