Clutch Cable modifications??

Featured Replies

What can i do to loosen up my clutch peddle on my '84 Wagon? After the lift, it seems like after the lift the clutch has become ALOT stiffer. The other day, i think i bent something in the peddle assembly, or maybe the cable is failing... but i lost all clutch capabliity's, had to hold the peddle to the floor just to be able to force the car in gear. I tightened the cable as much as posslbe, and it made it alittle easier to shift gears, but it was getting harder and harder the more i drove.

Has anybody here ever pondered the idea of a hydrolic clutch conversion?

Sounds like your cable is about to fail - had that happen to me. First it got a little loose and I tightened it - then it broke in half. Is your cable running over or under the steering linkage - it's supposed to run under. Over will cause premature wear and failure.

Its running the correct way, i think your right. Seems like it wanted to fail the entire trip back. I will have to go get a new one. Been looking at hydrolic conversions, but looks like it wont be easy, expecially with the Subaru's Pull clutch VS. most jeep and yota's Push clutch.

That's what clutch cables did for me just before failure, several different cars (Ford, Subaru, etc.).
