March 29, 200818 yr just wondering if anyone had encountered a very rough idling but once being driven its totally gone(no surge or any hesitation)but stalls when in stop and the gear in drive, has these happened to anyone?mine is a 2001 legacy gt with 187 thousand miles, complete tune up and cylinder headgasket had already been(was doing the same thing even after all those work had been done)according to the previous owner, any ideas anyone?thanks
March 29, 200818 yr is the check engine light on? what is the code? didn't your other post mention low compression?
March 29, 200818 yr Pull the codes (even if a CEL isnt on) and do a wet/dry compression test. When was the last time it had a tune up?
March 29, 200818 yr Author i just got the car last night, the previous owner told me that his mechanic thinks the no.3 cylinder has low compression even after he replaced the hedgasket and did the full tune up, i drove it 20 miles last night and no check engine light or whatsoever but i will hook up the scan tool today anyway maybe there's a pending code or something, as far as having any of the axles replaced, that i don't know and the previous owner never mentioned anything about it, i will try and work on it today and recheck everything, thanks for input and suggestions, i will update my post later, once again, thank you
March 29, 200818 yr OK - nipper - what do AXLES have to do with it? (knocked something off in the process? Just curious because I'll have to do one to the IMP I'm getting. Better forewarned )
March 30, 200818 yr Author finally got to work on my car a bit today, as soon as i started it cel came on, p0302 and 0304, #2 and #4 cylinder misfires, did a compression test, 1,2,3 reads at 150psi, 4 at 125psi, tried replacing cam sensor still does the same thing, i might try and check the valve clearance, anyone here knows what the intake/exhaust valve clearance specs are?i will try and see if it might help, thanks
March 31, 200818 yr Author thank you people, finally got around to working on my car today, i found the #2 and #4 valves were tight, adjusted it according to specs and no more misfire, once again thank you for all your inputs and suggestion, don't have to worry about putting a new engine in it, it was a zero $ fix....
