April 14, 200817 yr well my only car is down right now. 93 loyale 5spd ea82. factory AC and all of that stuff.... I need to replace water pump. so far its a PITA! Help. Tyler
April 14, 200817 yr what do you need help with specifically? remove accessory belts, cam pulley, timing belt covers, timing belts and then replace the water pump. if you've never done timing belts make sure you take a good look at how the cams and crank are lined up and put it back exactly how it was. there are plenty of notes and threads on how to line the timing belts back up.
April 14, 200817 yr You should be able to do this without removing the timing belts. The covers have to come off though. I've done several without any interference form the belts. Now, the oil pump would require removal of the belt on the drivers side.

Now, the oil pump would require removal of the belt on the drivers side. The drivers side belt tensioner overlaps the pump body slightly. If you're belt is stretched, the tensioner might be down out of the way far enough, but likely you'll need to remove that tensioner. But the belt can stay in place, just don't let it slip.
April 15, 200817 yr i did it. now i need a radiator What makes you think that? I'll lay odds you haven't bled all the air from the system. It's overheating and you don't know why so you assume since the pump is new you must need a radiator right? You need to burp the air from it. GD

GD I'm working on a mod for the air in the cooling system problem. Chevy cavaliers have a metal tube that has a air bleed in it and its the same size as the heater hoses of the EA82. I'm going to cut the metal tube off a JY car and then cut one of my heater hoses and clamp that section with the valve on my hose. I will have pics when its done.

Just add a 3 dollar prestone flush kit *T* into the line. It will serve the same function and be there to use for flushes.
