May 19, 200817 yr My wagon runs a little hot Ihave changed the thermostat and the coolant but nothing changed it will cool down to normal when I cut on the heater what should I do
May 19, 200817 yr remove the radiator and backflush it. Also clean all the crap out of between the radiator fins. Chances are it got gummed up with all the off-roading.
May 19, 200817 yr The radiator could be partially clogged so you may need to replace it. You could also have a block check done to see if exhaust gases are getting into the coolant. This will cause a increase in water temperature also.
May 25, 200817 yr my '85 was having the same problem on a trip out with TheSubaruJunkie one day... it was a long hot drive home... replaced the radiator and the problem was gone... --Spiffy
May 25, 200817 yr If you go so far as to R&R the radiator, you might as well replace the water pump too. Cheap insurance and alot easier to do with the rad out of the way. Later, Tim
