Another Towning Question?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have read the threads about pulling subarus with 4wd manual trans on dollys but I was wondering could you pull one with all four tires on the ground? the reason I ask is Im thinking of buying a subaru as a dinghy for my rv. Does anyone know of a tow bar made for early model subarus?

just leave it in neutral. dunno about the tow bar....

if your going to tow it behind an rv (in neutral) please make sure its in neutral lol. my $50 coupe was towed at freeway speed in 2nd behind an rv :( needless to say i wont be using any of the engine parts in the rebuild.

What brand towbar did you use? I was going to tow a 4 door geo metro for the size and gas mileage(58-60mpg) but its a hassle cause you have to use a tow dolly.

Engine turning = oil pump turning. I don't see a huge problem with that frankly - regardless of how the engine is turned (burning fuel, or mechanically) as long as it maintains a high enough RPM to get the oil pressure up it should be fine.

Freeway speed in 2nd gear would be a pretty high RMP though..... perhaps the damage was from sustained high-RPM. Seems like it wouldn't hurt it too much though as there's no load from the cylinders fireing.

An interesting tear-down for sure either way.
