May 23, 200817 yr Hi, I have read the threads about pulling subarus with 4wd manual trans on dollys but I was wondering could you pull one with all four tires on the ground? the reason I ask is Im thinking of buying a subaru as a dinghy for my rv. Does anyone know of a tow bar made for early model subarus?
May 23, 200817 yr if your going to tow it behind an rv (in neutral) please make sure its in neutral lol. my $50 coupe was towed at freeway speed in 2nd behind an rv needless to say i wont be using any of the engine parts in the rebuild. isaac

I don't see a huge problem with that frankly - regardless of how the engine is turned (burning fuel, or mechanically) as long as it maintains a high enough RPM to get the oil pressure up it should be fine. Freeway speed in 2nd gear would be a pretty high RMP though..... perhaps the damage was from sustained high-RPM. Seems like it wouldn't hurt it too much though as there's no load from the cylinders fireing. An interesting tear-down for sure either way. GD
