June 29, 200817 yr Well, normally I like to lift my vehicles rather than drop them. But in this case, I think the car will look pretty sharp. I have a 99 Outback wagon with a really nice set of 17's on it and lower profile tires. If I'm understanding right, guys usually put Outback shocks on normal Lego's to lift them correct? Like an inch and a half or so I heard. So would I be able to swap Lego shocks on my Outback to drop it some? I think the car would look real sharp like that. What do you guys think, is it as easy as it seems?
June 29, 200817 yr Yes it would work. You might also want to pull out all the spacers between the subframe and body that the outbacks have to avoid weird driveline angles. Although just the strut swap would work ok too. Be sure to align it afterwards.
June 29, 200817 yr Author Thanks guys! Yes, the wheels/tires should definately clear. I know the old subes, but these new ones are different for me. Still learning. I was wondering about driveline angles and such. I'll keep trying to find some threads, but most of them are people doing the opposite, haha. Any clue on what years will work, shock wise? Or is it all the Legos?

June 30, 200817 yr Author Perfect, exactly what I needed to know. Thanks! I'll give them a try, can't hurt to see how it looks.

There are also a few sets at Harry's in Pennsburg. Buy the whole strut/spring assembly for an easy swap.
June 30, 200817 yr Author haha, yep, you read my mind. Your not very far away from me, so you know how it is around here. No need to shop around for any. I've got 4 yards within 15 minutes of me.

June 30, 200817 yr Author John, I'll be in touch whenever I get around to doing this, haha. But I will let you know for sure pretty soon here. Maybe I'll do it on the long weekend this week.
June 30, 200817 yr Author When I do get around to it, I'll post some before and after pics. I'd like to see what you guys think!
June 30, 200817 yr If your alignment is 'known good' now, mark the location of the FRONT Upper bolt (it's oval shaped) on the strut mount before touching it and put it back exactly, your alignment should be fine...Mine was when I put OB struts on my older Legacy....took it in just to check and they told me it was 'in spec'. Have fun w/it!
July 6, 200817 yr Author Perhaps not this weekend...too many 4th of July parties, not enough junkyard time, haha
