is there any direct replacment alternators from other years that can better handle my 1400 watt sound system in my brat it currently runs in the red with my sterio on but the charge light doesnt come on.... other wise it charges very well

GM alternator upgrade. Pretty easy compared to the improvement.

xt6 alternator too, but the GM is the way to go

The GM alt kept up until I came to a stop (idle) at more than 1/2 volume then it dropped to 12 volts and occasionally went to 11 volts on a strong bass line... Its well worth it.

XT6 Alternator works reasonably...90A max output is typical. I think I have one; if you want to try it out, it'll be available when I'm back from vacation.
