GREENSUBIE
So I am doing the 4spd 4x4 to the 5 spd 4x4 in my hatch, its an 86 GL ea81, so I have went step by step down this list http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49952 but i have made it down to step 20. transfer timing marks to ea82 flywheel if neededhow exactly do I tell if the marks need to be transfered I lined up the bolt holes and the timing marks did not line up. How would I transfer them if they needed to be transfered? Thanks SS
GeneralDisorder
Why not just use the EA81 flywheel? That's what I always do. Just substitute the EA82 friction disc. GD

GeneralDisorder
wait so all that about putting in the ea82 flywheel isnt totally necessary? No - you just use the EA82 clutch disc. Swapping over to the EA82 flywheel just buys you the ability to run the EA82T/XT6 pressure plate. You need to make sure you use the EA82 disc that has the round hub and not the semi-square one as the squarish one won't fit inside the EA81 pressure plate.
