  1. I was just checking cuz my car has a cat. after the spfi install the car seems to run a little rich, i smell a hint of gas so i was going to take the cat out and see if it changed but i was told that the computer might need it or something with the o2 sensor i dont know. but ill just take it out. thanks
  2. with the spfi swap do you need a catalytic converter? Thanks SS
  3. The temp sensor was the problem. Much Thanks SS
  4. Well i filled the gas tank to see my new mileage and so far its getting pretty good, with this high idle thing, so im expecting a little better after i figure out the idle problem, but ill check the coolant temp sender. thanks SS
  5. I just did a spfi swap on my 86 hatch, runs great except for when i stop at a red light or stop sign ect... the rpms rise to about 2800 rpms and holds till i take off. and then runs fine and when i stop same thing. its very frusterating cuz i cant afford it to be burning gas like that. and i dont know much bout spfi, ive checked: for vaccum leaks there are none, timing is good, and idk what to do Thanks SS
  6. ok i wasnt quiet thinking when i wrote that but yeah. i just wasnt sure if it would make the car run any differnt
  7. so i unplugged and took out the egr solenoid valve but the ecs light on my dash stays on and i still get a code, is that going to put my car in like limp mode? is there a way to by pass is so the computer thinks it is still there and i wont have the code?? Just wondering Thanks SS
  8. Hey thanks you all next time i go to a u pull it ill take a look for some like DaveT is talking about and probly for now yea ill just unplugg the sucker. much thanks SS
  9. I have just finished my first spfi swap on my ea81, she runs but doesnt run right seems like bogging down when you drive it. i checked and am getting code 34 which is the "EGR solenoid valve" i have an 86 GL 4x4 hatchback. the donor car was an 89 GL wagon 4x4. i pulled one off a subaru i just bought that is FI same year and everything as the donor car she has bad head gaskets so i dont know if that one worked in the first place but neither worked. any body know whats going on?? Much Thanks SS
  10. yes we are still on for the p.s if you still want it. im still workin on getting time to get it all out. we can do the cash thing right before we ship it if thats alright with you? Sheldon

  11. I bought a 1982 subaru GL wagon for a good price the guy said he just replaced the clutch and it ran for a little bit then stopped and never could get it turned over again. so he sold it to me for a good price and i didnt trust his work cuz it ran before he replaced the clutch he said for since he had it but anyhow, i droped the tranny and found this. the pressure plate teeth work bent and missing the throw out bearing was ate and the throw out bearing shaft was ate as well. oh and he gave me the clutch and everything that he took out of the car. so i compared and its noticebly different. so i took it in to the parts house and they said that for the 1982s they have a late 70s clutch so i bought one threw it in there and SHE IS ALIVE:banana: just figured i would do some show and tell SS
  12. im use to working on the EA81 and 82s so how hard would fixing the bent valve be on the newer ones? Thanks SS
  13. one of my friends has a 2000 outback i dont know as much about the newer subarus as i do the older, but he was telling me that his engine just went out i asked questions. he said the car just stoped the engine wouldnt run. so he went to do an compression test and said that one side of the engine was getting compression and the other side wasnt niether cylinder. what would cause no compression on one side?? Thanks SS
  14. Yea i still have them, the pump and the rack, how bout $125 and where are you located?

  17. How do i know what weber carb i have, my dad bought it a while ago and doesnt remeber so i dont know which i have, and is there a thread that has possibly a step by step or picture of intalling one also? Thanks SS
  18. Im doing the 5spd swop in my 86 hatch and am going to use the one peice drive line i have a 3 inch in the front and 2 inch lift in the back. its hard measuring what the length should be does anyone know? Thanks SS
  19. which would supply more power? and more worth while to swop?
  20. Thanks, I Kind of figured. but was checking, looked easy but I didnt want to get into it and find out like you say a head ache and all. Thanks Sheldon
  21. will any ea82 hubs fit my ea81 with minimal or what ever modification?I have an 86 GL hatchback 4x4, i want bigger wheels does anyone know if i can swop hubs for the 5 lug or anything and how easy it would be ? just trying to figure out a way for bigger tires with out having to drill and everything?:-\ I went to the u pull its today to get a look but wasnt sure what to do or if my head was even on straight Thanks SS
  22. Yeah my quote is $204. its in the shop now
  23. they guy said as long as the drive line isnt directly straight and level from the rear end to the tranny( that causes viberation) it has to have some degree of an angel not to steep but not to flat, if that makes sense. Im doing the 4spd 4x4 to 5 spd 4x4 swop and didnt know which drive line to use so i took them in and they guy said the one peice because the u joints.
  24. I took my one peice drive line out of my ea81 86 hatch in to the shop to see about getting it lengthend and i was curious about the 2 peice from the wagons, and asked the guy which he would recomend, he said the one peice because the u joints are replacable??? the 2 peice the joints are not replacable, is this true? SS:-\
