  1. yes i was planning on just pulling the engine out of my hatchback and droping in the turbo. and ya 4 spd not fun, but will the turbo engine fit in the car? and "all wireing?? starting where?
  2. alright, so here is the plan, i have an 86 subaru GL 1.8 d/r 4x4 5 spd hatchback, i just recently bought a 87 subaru turbo GL 10 5spd push button 4x4, i want to or would like to put the turbo engine in my hatchback, now what would be best, to keep the 5 spd tranny and rear end in and mount the turbo up to it, and go, or swop the engine and tranny and rear end? does anyone see a problem with the turbo fitting in my hatchback?? Thanks S.S
  3. i have 2 subaru hatchbacks, ones an 83 2wd, and the other is a 86 4x4, and 2 wagons an 88 and an 87,one 2wd and the other 4x4, but anyhow the question is.. the road side kit, with the lug wrench, pliers, screw driver, and 2 combination wrenches, and spark plug tool, in the hatch backs where are those put?? on the wagons they are with the jack in the of the car, but where in a hatchback?? just wondering. thanks SS
  4. I have a 86 GL 4x4 hatchback, its a 4spd, i want a 5spd 4x4, so i found a 87 subaru wagon, 5spd 4x4, I know you have to swop the rear ends, and what esle? the engine the 5spd is coming off of is a EA82 and i have an EA81 i think there might be a problem, id really appreciate the help. thanks SS
  5. i have a 1986 subaru, 4x4 1.8, 4 sp, the problem is the oil pressure sending unit or switch, which ever you call it, i have replaced it with to other used ones, one of them didnt read at all so i tryed the other and it shot the needle to the top, so i figured that one didnt work, so i bought a new one and installed it and the needle once again shot to the top, whats goin on here? can you plz help me? thanks SS
  6. probly the modulator on the side of the tranny, its like a $20 fix, and if its not it, your not out that much, but ive had the same problem SS
  7. ok, i have a 1980 subaru GL hatchback, 4 wheel drive, 1.6 L, i cant get it to start, i put 3 different coils in it, but still no spark, and thats everything, just aint getting any spark, it turns over just dont catch. on top the coil originaly in the subaru, it has a ignition transister, im assuming, thats the problem, and is why i aint getting any spark, so is there a way to bypass this ignition transister, or how much a new one would be, because i had an 82 subaru GL hatchback, and it didnt have this igniton transister and i havent seen one on any of my subarus i have owned, so ya i really want this car running, please help..
  8. Ok, My dash has like 3 huge cracks accross my dash, what do i do? is there somthin to fill, the thing is i bought a dash repair kit but my dash is to hard there is no soft, you push on it and it cracks, so does anyone else have or had this problem? it kinda makes my suby look junky so tryin to make her look good, any ideas? would help alot SS
  9. No, on my ea82 has one under the passenger seat, there are 2, they arent the fuel pump relay but it is a relay that has to do with the fuel pump and the relay, beacuase its in between the fuel pump and fuel pump control unit, i trace down the wires, so im pretty sure, but i could be wrong, but i was jsut tellin my findings,
  10. there are actually 2 relays under the passenger seat, one of them is a relay for the FP but i aint sure which, maybe try testing those before buyin a new pump,
  11. its not hard at all, i wouldnt pay someone to do it, it will take you a few hours or so to figure it out, well it didnt mine cuz someone cut all the connecters off and all i had was wires i had no idea which went to where,(so it took me a lil longer) so i had to test them all, but if you still have the connector for the old radio that was in the subie, then it should be fairly easy, but i found out in my hatch back that the wires were bad and the speakers would crack and i thought it was the speakers so i replaced and still crackld so i ran speaker wire to then and now they are clear, so i would probly run speaker wire to then just if they crackl, but back to the instalation find a allways hot wire, and a wire that is hot only when car is in accesory, then match the 4 speaker wires to each speaker and the ground to the speaker ground and thats it. SS
  12. COuld be a fuel pump problem also, mine has the same problem but i just bypassed it,
  13. i went to a paint store and asked them what color my car was and they pulled out a book and asked me the make and year and they showed me and it had all the paint colors that subaru used in that year, and it has the code so thats what i did
  14. no the blue and red wire has nothin, no volts, but there is a little switch in side the bluse box, i opened it up and tested around and found a relay or what ever it is i think its a switch to control the voltage for the fuel pump, but anyhow i went to radio shack and bought another and am replacing it,
  15. same here my 83 hatchback had same problem, i just rigged it, so when the car is on it comes on, beacuse everything else i tryed didnt work and i kept over heating, so it works now, havnt had a problem yet lets see how it does in the summer
  16. yea i checked the wire, at the FPCU (blue box) is where i traced the wires to and from there i aint getting any volts from the blue/red wire so i think there is a problem with the FPCU, because all the other wires have power that should have power, so i took apart one of my 2 FPCUs and tested it hooked up and found out that there is a switch on the circuit board and the switch isnt workin, so i went to radio shack and bought another switch ($2 wortha try) and if i screw it up i still got the other if its not the prob
  17. Ok, i found the fuel pump control unit, its blue with the mitsubshi logo, i found the relays under the passenger seat also, how would i match the FPCU to the carb?
  18. ok thanks ill check that out, but i think i might have tryed swopping it out but ill make sure im doin the right one
  19. get the tool, and open the bleeder screw and then use the tools to turn it, not hard at all
  20. if you disconnect the nuteral safty switch it should work cuz there isnt a sensor, so you should find the nuteral safty switch and disconnect it, might work might not worth a shot, id be desprate to get her started to,
  21. I rebuilt my engine by myself and im 16, there are only 4 bolts holding the tranny and the engine in, and 2 just holding the engine, real simple. i suggest just pulling the engine, you dont have to pull the tranny either, i did cuz i swoped trannys also. then later like a few weeks i found out it needed a new clutch so i just kept the engine in and lifted the tranny out or under, i jacked up the car high enough so that i could be under it with a creeper adn set the tranny on me and rolled out adn then liffted it back in with out a jack or anythign, so its simple.
  22. no i have a weber, thats why i was wondering why the light is on, yes i have a 02 sensor, so that would affect my fuel pump? because i am having trouble with it
  23. there is a relay or a umm dont know what its called but its for the brakes, its in the left side back corner of my hatch back so i assume there would be one in a wagon to? but i dont kwno im workin on wireing now to so i just found it, but that might be problem? i dont know jsut an idea
  24. what does ECS mean? emissions control system or sensor? or what, it is on, it is one of the idiot lights in the dash, it show at the bottom of the tach?? what do i do about it to fix it?
