January 9, 200422 yr So I posted about a week ago about my car cutting out on corners.. Someone said I need to rebuild my carb cuz the float level is too low.. I drove around like a madman testing my theories and found that my car only cuts out, sputters, hesistates (like water in the gas) on left hand turns... On right handers everything is fine? Is this still the float being too low, or is it something else?
January 9, 200422 yr Actually - unless you have messed with the carb internally it's not likely to be off.... more than likely your fuel pump can't keep up, or your filters are plugged - try a new air filter too - this may help a bit. If these cheap things don't help - rip the thing off and replace it with a weber. GD
January 9, 200422 yr The same thing happened to a Celica I had in Phoenix way back when. I was running the gas with the alcohol mix. I thought it was the 120 degree heat, but it turned out to be the fuel. I siphoned it all out (sold it to my neighbor for his Chevy), replaced it with a different brand of gas, voila..instant success, problem solved.
January 10, 200422 yr Author I've ran a few bottles of heet through the engine, a bottle of chevon fuel injection cleaner, changed the fuel filter, new coil, wires and plugs and prolly 10 tanks of gas through it and its still doin that
January 10, 200422 yr My car sputters and dies around right turns only. I have been told it is the carb float so I am just gonna replace the carb. I am not sure if yours is the same problem.
January 11, 200422 yr Author I sea foamed the carb yesterday and its still doing it.. Weird how yours did it on right handers and mine is doin it on left handers... I'm gonna start with ripping all the emissions **** off my carb and then see how it runs after that..
