1995 Legacy Water Pipe

Featured Replies

My wifes 95' has a "water pipe" made of aluminum that

has started to disintegrate where the radiator hose attaches.

The local dealer wants $260 for one!! Plus another $20 for

the 2 O rings needed.

The dealer called it either a water pipe or crossover tube.

Any ideas on a better source to get one?? I am hesitant to

get a used one. If this one is rotting away I would imagine

it's a common problem.

$50.00, but I'll have to ship it to ya. I could get the o-rings, but only at the same $$ as dealer. PM me if you wish, negotiations accepted;)

buy a used one, there's plenty out there that are still in great shape. i have a 97 impreza, 96 legacy, picked up a 97 and 95 legacy this summer for friend/relative and all had the original pipes in good condition (and this is the rust belt).

if you buy one from someone here (like that guy just offered), then you can ask them the condition or check out a photo. any yard you get one from should be able to as well.

Thanks Guys................ I haven't seen the part yet

myself. I'm out of state. Appreciate the pic. I am still

concerned as to why her's rotted.

Apparently my IT guy has this 'puter locked down too tight, I can't download to USMB. I 'll need to e-mail you.

yeah i thought that was strange as well that it's rotted. if non-distilled (tap) water is used, lots of deposits coagulate in the radiator, hoses, and pipes. usually doesn't cause rot though. dunno?

I have a couple 2.2 water pipes, in good conditions. $40 shipped from CO. Larry

better yet Check Portland Craigslist Look for SUBARU WATER PIPE I'll post it there. Just give it a few minutes to post...

I have emailed the following link to my wife for part

ID to be sure.

It is labled as "water pipe". Is this the one you guys

are talking about??

This one is new and only $133 new........ better than

the local dealer to be sure.

Water pipe located and acquired. thanks for all

the help it was great.

I've seen minor pitting in a lot that I've worked on... never to the point that it was a problem though. I suppose that since that's one of the hottest points in the cooling system, any corrosive or otherwise unfriendly chemical reactions would occur faster there than somewhere else.
