January 30, 200917 yr Author ProECM lightweight crank pulley I picked up from kingbobdole... threw the 15" steelies and Blizzak Revo1s from the wagon on it and took it ice racing a few weeks ago. more pics in the rally/racing section. which was the last coffin nail in the rear air suspension. it was drastically sagged for the trip home, and only made it about 2 more days before it was bottomed out completely. spent a day trying to jumper the solenoids and such to put air in them, without luck: that black connector under the fuel lines is the check connector where the signal wires for the individual solenoids are. jumpered to open one of the rears: the connector under the fuse box, jumpered to open the air charge solenoid: I was entirely unsuccessful.....so I got a few boxes over the last week or so: 4WD EA82 GR2s (which come with new upper bushings), 2.5" x 12" 250 lb/in Eibach springs from Ground-Control. should make for a nice firm ride, and match up well with some outback struts when I go EJ in the front. also got a couple boxes from Rock Auto. including 6 NGK v-power plugs, Bosch plug wires, and a Beck/Arnley 02 sensor.
January 31, 200917 yr Thank you for Posting those Nice Pics! ... the Animated one is Awesome!!! I Believe Normal Struts are Better than Pneumatic ones, should give you a Better Ride, but You`ll Swap the Front ones too, isn`t it? ... if the Pneumatic system is Failing, it could be Dangerous. Why you want to go EJ with this? ... it Looks very Nice & Clean. Kind Regards. Edited January 31, 200917 yr by Loyale 2.7 Turbo
January 31, 200917 yr Author the front air struts hold air just fine. so they will stay for now. I'm not swapping to an EJ engine, just struts/knuckles/bearings/brakes/axles. it will get coils in the front then.
March 15, 200917 yr Author the bronze WRX wheels have 205/55r16s on them. will be replaced with 205/50r16s this spring.
March 15, 200917 yr How do you think that tire would fair on a 7 inch wide wheel. Did you notice rubbing with the 55 series is that why you are going to the 50 series.
March 15, 200917 yr Author they'd be fine. my summer tires on my wagon are 215s on a 17x8. they don't looked stretched almost at all. actually, the reason I'm stepping down to the 50 series, is my buddy has a set with good tread left for $50 the snow tires on the steelies are 205/65r15s, being the tallest of any of the tires I own now (25.5"). and they fit just fine, with only a hair of rubbing once the rear shocks had gone entirely flat. I may look for some 205/70r15 snows for the XT6 next fall. as long as the wheel offset is high enough (pugs are not), there is a surprising amount of room in those wheel wells.
March 15, 200917 yr Well heres where it gets tricky Chux. Im looking to put on some 6 lug stock chevy wheels. So i dotn know how far off the offset is compared to a pug. I can get ahold of a set of 6 lug 1998 chevy aluminum wheels. The offset doesnt look to far off from a pug it was just the depth i was worried about.
March 15, 200917 yr Author yea, chevy's have a muuuuuuch lower offset than the subaru wheels. so they won't tuck up into the fenders. but you'll also have more ride height than I do.....
March 15, 200917 yr The stock chevy wheels im looking at seem to have a different offset the usual ones. The standard z71 wheel sthat came on the pickups. I might buy this set anyways to see what is what.
