DL/GL wheels all interchangeable? Early DL with a late GL?

they should be the same. Only options were different on these cars. The drive train etc. was the same.

it comes to mind that some of the early model (ea81) had issues fitting the later model(ea82) or vice versa because of rubbing the caliper.a slight grinding of the caliper relieved this situation if it occured.no big deal.i have done this with no repurcussions.cheers, brian

correct, but if its the same style car it should be fine:banana:

Right

rule of thumb, if its a wheel from an EA82 car it will fit EA81.

If its EA81 it might fit EA82, but some of the earlier ones wont, Ive had the rubbing issue Monstaru refers to. EA71 wheels will fit EA81, but EA82 stock steelies will grind really badly on the rear trailing arms if you try to put them on a Gen 1.

When it comes to custom wheels or other wheels like Wagon wheels, the only way to know is to try them out.

I once fit EA81 rims to a EA82 and they fit fine...

...then I replaced my brake pads and ran into all sorts of trouble.

So yeah... EA82 rims will work on a EA81 just fine... but not the other way around. Unless you have no brake pads left

for ea82 there is a slight difference in caliper dementions after 87. you are less likely to have clearance issuies with pre 88 ea82's

Actually the problem was worse on my mom's 86 GL than on my 87 GL, and I tried the same rims on both. Of course, on mine I drove it like that for a while, so they did some of their own grinding on the calipers...
