Front end removal

The snow melted in the Tri Cities and I need the engine, transmission and front end out of the donor car for the buggy. I am waiting for schucks to get me the chilton for my 82 subaru, so I figured that I would ask you guys. I was looking at it and it looks like all I need to do is

1 Remove all cables, hoses, and electrical from the engine

2 Disconnect the shifters from the tranny, driveshaft is already off

3 Disconnect steering, brake lines, and upper strut mount

4 Unbolt engine and transmission crossmember

5 Lower engine, tranny, and front end to the ground

6 Lift vehicle up and pull engine assebly out

My question to you guys is will this work, or will I have to pull each part seperatly??? Thanks

the hard part is moving it after you have it on the ground.as a unit,as the struts having no top mount makes for a squirrely ride.

the other part is lifting the car.we have actually ran a strap from the front bumper up over the top of the car,to another soob behind it.

blocked the rear wheels very well, let me say that again BLOCK THE REAR WHEELS WELL,and pulled the front end up.

i would just suggest using an engine crane, and recovery strap ran through the wheel wells up front.cheers, brian

I removed the,

Engine,

Tranny,

Suspension,

Struts,

Wheels & tires

as one unit.

I cut from the strut towers down to the frame and removed the front of the car.

Then I used an engine hoist to pull the whole thing out the front as a unit.

I lowered the tube frame onto the engine assembly.

Took about 20 minutes to install.

Good Luck!

when I pulled the old stuff out of my loyale. I opted to remove the axles/suspension/brakes first. then I lowered the car to the ground, unbolted the crossmembers, then lifted the front of the car with a hi-lift jack under the rad support, set it on 2 stacks of tires under the framerails, and used my other subaru to drag the assembly out:
